Vanilla-flavored crescent cookie (German: Vanillekipferl)

These are traditional Christmas cookies in Germany! Each year my mom makes the best Vanillekipferl and so I decided to bake them the first time in my life with my project team.

We had so much fun together and enjoyed the tasty cookies afterwards together 😊

What you need:

· 250 g flour

· 210 g butter

· 100 g almond(s), ground

· 80 g sugar

· 2 packages vanilla sugar

· 1 package icing sugar, to turn

· 2 packages vanilla sugar, to turn

Knead the ingredients for the dough well together.

Then wrap in foil and place in the fridge for 30 minutes. (Don’t forget this step! Otherwise the butter is too warm!)

In the meantime, sieve the icing sugar into a bowl and mix with two packets of vanilla sugar.

Form the crescent pastry into rolls with a diameter of approximately 4 cm. Then cut into slices of about 1 - 2 cm thick.

Form the croissants from these slices and place them not too close together on a baking tray covered with baking paper.

Bake in a fan oven at 175 °C for about 20 minutes. When the croissants start to brown, they are good.

Now let the croissants cool for about 3 minutes.

Then place them in the prepared icing sugar mixture and turn them over on all sides. If they are still too warm, they break very easily and if they are too cold, the icing sugar no longer adheres well. It is best to try again and again to see if they are firm enough.

And final step: enjoy the Vanillkipferl! 😊

We wish you lot of fun trying the receipt and Frohe Weihnachten (German: Merry Christmas)!
