You can also make a competition with your friends and find out who is the best Christmas architect!
What you need:
The quantity is for one regular-sized house.
· 400g honey
· 150g butter or margarine
· 200g sugar
· 2 eggs
· 1 pack gingerbread spice
· 1 prize salt
· 800g flour
· 4 teaspoons baking powder (painted)
· 20g cacao
· 1 protein
· 100g powdered sugar
· Addable ingredients are optional (for example: Christmas cookies, gummi bears, and any other sweets you prefer!)
Approach:
In general, you can decide on yourself what your house should look like in the end. The imagination knows no limits, be creative to personalize the house with your own style.
You will need to draw a template of the house walls and the roof. A lot of different templates can be found on the internet.
Step 1
First of all, take the honey, butter, sugar and salt and put them together into a pot. Heat up the pot and stir them until you got a smooth mass.
Let the mass cool down in a bowl. In the meantime, you are mixing the flour, baking powder and ginger bread spice.
Take your mixture and sift it over the mass while knead it into the mass until you got one whole dough.
Wrap the dough into foil and let it rest for at least two hours!
Step 2
Now - while the dough is resting - you got time to prepare your templates which you will need to cut your walls and roof out of the chilled dough.
Draw them on a piece of paper or for more stability on a cardboard.
Let your creativity do the work, and do not be afraid to draw windows, a door, stars (for the decoration part) as well as Christmas trees, a stack, and other necessary parts of the house.
Step 3
Once the cooling time is over, you can take the dough and roll it out to a height of 2-3mm. Put your prepared templates on top of the dough and cut along the sides with a sharp knife (please be careful!).
You can use the remaining parts as a foundation for your house, or more decorative objects.
After finishing the preparation everything goes into the oven at 180°C for 8-10 minutes (heat up the oven before).
Step 4
Now take the powdered sugar and the protein and mix it to a moulding.
Put the mixture into a piping bag and use it as a glue to stick the walls together.
Let the construction dry for about 20 minutes and then put everything else you prepared onto the house with your moulding.
Step 5
Once everything is hardened you can bring your house in the right shape and give it your own handwriting. Use your moulding to stick the decorative elements onto the house, put some cookies to it or place trees around your house. There are so many options.
The finished house can be consumed for one week, but you can also just use it as decoration.
We wish you lots of fun building your individual Gingerbread-House and a wonderful wintertime! 😊
